Canterbury Village- Saturday, October 28, 2023
On our way home from Aunt Delores's funeral, we thought about stopping at Frankenmuth, but it was too far out of the way and we would have wanted to stay longer there then we had time for. Instead, we stopped at another place that Aunt Delores once took us- Canterbury Village. That was back in 2004, and it didn't impress us as much this time.
It's almost Halloween, of course, and Canterbury Village was filled with many inflatables and other large decorations. That gave us something to look at, certainly. But we didn't see as many cool shops as we did years ago. Maybe we were just in the wrong part of the place, or maybe they have closed down since then. Later, we did look back at some videos that we took back in 2004 just to see if we were misremembering it. We weren't. There was a much larger store with Christmas trees and lots of other interesting things that just wasn't there this time. It seems to have been in the building that is called "Canterbury Castle," but this time that building seemed to be closed off and only used for special events. At the "Made in Michigan Market," Julie bought a poncho for Abby that is supposed to work well with car seats. Abby also got a "poppable" toy because of course she had to get something. After we spent some time visiting the booths and seeing the large dragons and skeletons and whatnots, we went to look someplace else for lunch.
We ended up getting lunch a la carte at a grocery store nearby. Then we drove to Sarnia, where we crossed out of Michigan and into Ontario on the Blue Water Bridge and drove from there home.
