To California- Tuesday, June 30, 2015
Well, today is officially the first full week of summer and the official start to our trip. The girls and I boarded a plane in Buffalo, New York at 10:06 AM. Our first stop was Washington Dulles and lunch. We each bought a pizza in the terminal and sat down for our three hour layover. During the layover Anna went for many strolls and Emma beat her mother in chess and checkers. At 3:00 pm we boarded the plane to take us to LAX, however, the tires on the plane needed to be changed, so we were delayed another hour and a half.
Once we took off, the girls were able to sit next to each other and I sat across from them. The girls were afraid of the man sitting next to them so neither would go to the bathroom or get up. They think he did not speak any English. We landed at about 7:30 PM and the girls ran to find a bathroom. Once we had our luggage, we proceeded to Thrifty to pick up our Ford Fiesta. It is small and easy to navigate the California highways. With the help of GPS, we found our hotel in Anaheim. We are 1/2 mile from Disneyland. We then dropped off our luggage and went to find dinner. We eventually settled on Pollo Loco. It is kinda like KFC and Taco Bell mixed together. It was now well after 9 PM, and we went back to the room to shower and get ready for tomorrow. We were able to call Scott and wish him a good night. Signing off for night will write more later.
Scott's note: I'm at home working at Fort Niagara. We originally didn't have a big trip planned this summer, and I applied for a job to work at Old Fort Niagara like I did 25 years ago. When we didn't hear from the fort, we started talking about a trip to California. Then, only two weeks ago, I went for an interview at the fort and they wanted me. The girls had already started getting excited about California so I said they should go without me.
