Friday, April 15, 2022- to Corey's in Gainesville, GA

Scott was up first this morning.  He went for a 2-mile walk that took him along the "river" in Port Orleans- French Quarter and looped through the Riverside resort too.  It would have been nicer if he had brought music like he did on his walks at the Caribbean Beach Resort, but it was nice listening to the birds and the resorts waking up too.

We hated to leave, but the reality is that we have a long trip to get home and have to start sometime.  Plus, Disney has a special way of sucking whatever money you have out of your pocket.  At the Wilderness Lodge, for example, Scott was going up to the counter to pay for a few things, and called to Julie, "How do you want me to pay for this?   With that $50 you gave me?"  She said yes.  As he turned back to the counter, the clerk said, "That will be $50.03." "That's not fair," Scott said with a smile, "You heard me say that."  He and the clerk both laughed, but it does seem that the Mouse has the magical ability to sense your money.

We packed up the room and Scott took the things to the car while Julie ordered breakfast on the Disney app.  We enjoyed our last hearty Disney breakfast indoors this time because the humidity is quite high today,  We stopped one more time at the Jackson Square gift shop because of course we did.  Scott bought a pin that says "Port Orleans- French Quarter" and hss Tiana on it.  Abby hugged a stuffed Daisy Duck so she's coming home with us too. Then we got in the car and headed out on the roads going north again.

We had about seven hours of driving in front of us today, and we didn't leave Disney until about 10:00.  Julie drove the whole way today.   Abby was watching her DVD player most of the way, and of course there was Peppa Pig, but Scott also threw in some others.  She was responding to both Blue's Clues and Dora and answering the characters when they asked her to.  The driving was generally uneventful, but there was a lot of traffic and congestion as we passed through Atlanta close to rush hour.

Our stop for tonight was Julie's cousin Corey's house.  Julie is pretty close to him even though they don't get to see each other very much.  He lives in the little country town of Gainesville, east of Atlanta.  We were surprised to see how far out in the country he actually was.  You can apparently hear cows from his house sometimes (and gunshots too, but we don’t think it’s at or from the cows).    We contacted him earlier in the week to see if he might be available for dinner tonight, and he insisted that we should not get a hotel but should stay with him.  His wife Brigette had gotten barbecue for us and we had a nice meal and conversation.  We caught up on his family and he caught up on ours.  He loved seeing his little first cousin-once removed, Abby, and did get her to cuddle on his lap for a little bit.  We had visited Corey in Georgia once before, but he has moved since then and this is our first time at this house.
