Visiting Cathy- Monday, July 24, 2006

We took our time getting around today after the hectic weekend. We checked out of our suite in Carlsbad (which we really liked) and drove slowly up the coast. We spent a little while for lunch at a mall called Fashion Island in Newport Beach. We checked into our hotel in Anaheim, then we went to Cathy's.

Bob was called out of town on business, so we aren't able to see him. We talked about meeting some other time, but the rest of our days here are full. Now, we're at Cathy's as I'm typing this. They have a really beautiful place near the beach which they completely remodelled themselves. The breezes must flow through here nicely (when it isn't a heat wave like now). Bob is a big surfer, and the place has an open breezy feel to it.

The girls had been munching watermelon, but they just left with Cathy to go to order pizza.

Sea World- Sunday, July 23, 2006

We went to Sea World today and spent a longer time there then I expected.

We started with the show that Shamu and the other killer whales put on, of course. There are lots of other shows that go on there during the day. At one place there are sea lions and otters (I've never seen trained otters before). At another, dolphins, of course. I think Anna's favorite was the pet show, with dogs, cats, pigs, and birds. Anna and Emma both got to pick up starfish at the tidal pool. The three girls sat in the first row at the dolphin show and got very wet. Anna liked that but Emma didn't.

It's our last night in San Diego, and we'll be headed back to Los Angeles on Monday, starting the last leg of our trip.
