Wednesday, July 13- Home from Denver

"Is there life after Denver?  Is there life after Colorado at all?"
... Larry Gatlin

None of us seemed to sleep well at all, knowing what kind of a night and morning we were going to have.  At least Abby was feeling better than she did last night.  There was a full moon over the Rockies as we got up at 2:30 and left the hotel before 3:00.  When we got to the Denver airport, Scott and Emma waited with all the bags at the Southwest terminal while Julie and Abby dropped the car off at Avis.  There were a large number of people going through security, and when we got to the gate, our plane was already boarding.  As we took off, the sun was just rising over the plains in the east.

Our first destination was Tampa, where we had to change planes.  Originally, we were scheduled to go through Minneapolis, but when we learned that our stop had been changed to Tampa, we were really tempted to see if we could change the flight to Buffalo so that we could go back to Disney again.  Ultimately, that would have cost us too much money, and honestly, we're pretty tired now.  There wasn't much time between planes in Tampa.  The flight was originally posted as "Delayed" when we first got there, but we didn't have a chance to grab a meal-- Only some Starbucks for Julie and Emma.

We got to Buffalo on schedule, grabbed our luggage, and went out to the short-term parking garage.  Julie's folks left our car there after we texted them that we were leaving Tampa, and it was only two spaces from the door.   We made our way home, exhausted, but glad to be there.  We grabbed food along the way-  Mighty Taco for some of us, Burger King for others.  We'll have to do some shopping soon, because there's no food left in the house, but it is good to be home and we're all going to sleep soon (We're still on Mountain Time, of course).

We talked last night at dinner at the aquarium and listed our highs and lows.  We were quick to agree on the lows.  First on all of our lists was dealing with Avis, followed by the heat (especially in Nebraska) and the loss of Abby's bunny.  We all seemed to agree that the cabin was a high point for all of us.  Julie liked the Amana colony, as well as the animals like the moose and the bighorn sheep.  Emma and Scott didn't pick any other highs beyond the cabin, but agreed that there were lots of goods times during the last two weeks.

Where to next?
