Saturday, April 16, 2022- to Home
Corey left before Julie was up, but Scott got to thank him for his hospitality. Brigette was up by the time we had the car packed and ready to go. The GPS took us through the backroads of northern Georgia so we didn’t hit Atlanta traffic again. Just like it seemed odd that we would be so close to the Magic Kingdom and not go in a few days ago, it seemed odd that we would be within a few miles of where the 154th fought at Rocky Face Ridge and not stop, but we’d like to be home tonight. When we entered Tennessee and Kentucky, we entered two new states for Abby, giving her e total of seven new states this week (including New Jersey, Delaware, North and South Carolina, and Georgia).
One thing we learned for our rrip this summer- It is worth it to bring the DVD player and a variety of DVDs for the drives we will be doing. Abby is very content when it's on for her.
The trip did have a positive impact on Abby. Several times on the way home she asked, "Beach?" or "Peppa's House?" expecting that we were going there. Once she even thought that she saw Peppa's house. It was a chain hotel with yellow gables that did sort of look like her house, but we had to explain to her that we were a long way from Peppa's and we weren't going back there today.
We are posting this while we are still on the road, but in New York. After more than 13 hours of driving today, we are expecting to be home between midnight and 1:00 AM. That means we will be home for Easter Sunday tomorrow, and the Easter Bunny will visit Abby in her own home.
