Julie PROMISED us that she would not make us marathon drive all the way back, like she had on Friday. She PROMISED us that we would break the trip into two parts, get a hotel room, see some sights along the way. We should have been suspicious when she wouldn't commit to where we were stopping and whenever we suggested a place, she'd just say, "We'll see."
She had us up for an early start. We left Aunt Sandy's just before 7:00 AM. Oddly, we didn't go to any Civil War sights on this trip, either in Atlanta or in Northern Georgia, in spite of the fact that these were places where the 154th NY fought. We might have stopped at Kennesaw Mountain battlefield visitor's center, but we got such an early start that they wouldn't have been open when we passed it. We got to the Tennessee welcome center by 9:00. We ate lunch at Jellico, TN, just south of the Kentucky line. We were near Cincinnati just before 4:00, but Julie didn't want to stop at the Hofbrauhaus in Newport, KY. We ate at a Wendy's instead. We were near her friend in Columbus, but Julie didn't want to do any more visiting. We pushed on and got to Cheektowaga around 11:30 PM.
